To provide a framework whereby the College is equipped with independent academic advice, CHS’s Board of Directors delegates the academic governance of the Institute to the Academic Board. The Academic Board comprises academic staff from other higher education providers, tertiary education practitioners, members of the college’s academic staff and a student representative.
The Academic Board operates independently of the ownership and management of the Institute to assure the academic integrity of the colleges’s courses.
The Academic Board has responsibility for academic policymaking, academic administration and oversight of the educational processes. This ensures that the Academic Board maintains appropriate control over the administration of the curriculum to allow educational objectives to be achieved. The Academic Board is chaired by one of its independent members.

The ECA College of Health Science’s (CHS) is an institute of higher education and provider of higher education courses to students, delivering accredited higher education courses. The courses are accredited with TEQSA. CHS has developed its courses to help professionals develop the requisite eLearning knowledge, skills and understanding to work effectively in educational and related professional settings.
All courses delivered by CHS, that lead to higher education award that are issued by CHS are recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This assures current and intending students of CHS courses that lead to a CHS issued AQF award that they will be offered a suitable alternative course or have unspent pre-paid tuition fees refunded if CHS cannot provide the course for which the student has paid. CHS has established a Quality Framework which sets out the common principles, criteria and processes for quality assurance at CHS. The Institute designed its quality framework to provide a robust and coordinated approach to quality enhancement which embraces “all of institution” in order to foster a continuous quality improvement approach. The Institute’s Quality Framework is guided by its Governance Charter, strategic and business planning, including risk management, development of policies and procedures, course design and evaluation, collection and analysis of feedback from stakeholders, analysis of statistical data (metrics), moderation of assessment and benchmarking activities. Mr. John Cameron was the Chief Operating Officer at the Australian Catholic University (ACU) and was responsible for the coordination of strategy and service delivery across a range of specialist administrative functions, covering Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal Services, Planning, Properties and Secretariat. He was also the Secretary to the University Senate and the Company Secretary for ACU. He is a Master of Commerce (Honours) from the University of New South Wales.
Kirsti Nunn has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Kirsti serves as the Chief Financial Officer at the Education Centre of Australia since August 2022. From October 2019 to August 2022, Kirsti worked as the CFO/COO at The Peninsula Montessori Association Ltd (PMAL), where she successfully developed and implemented a strategic plan to navigate the challenges of COVID-19, resulting in increased profit and student enrolments.
Kirsti’s previous roles include serving as the Financial Controller, Retirement Villages at Aveo Group from November 2015 to June 2019, where she provided financial strategic direction to 95 retirement communities and managed a large team across multiple states. Prior to that, she worked as a Senior Finance Manager – Decision Support & Financial Planning at UNSW Australia from June 2013 to November 2015, leading strategic projects and managing multidisciplinary teams. Kirsti’s earlier experiences include roles in large public companies such as Stockland and Westfield where she worked as senior finance manager across finance projects and large full function finance departments.
Throughout her career, Kirsti has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, strategic planning, change management, and financial management skills.
Kirsti has an extensive education history, demonstrating a dedication to furthering her knowledge and expertise in various fields. Kirsti is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws at University of New England and will complete the degree in 2026. Prior to this, Kirsti obtained a Master’s degree in Fraud and Financial Crime from Charles Sturt University specializing in Financial Forensics and Fraud Investigation, a Master’s degree in Accounting from Macquarie University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Macquarie University, with a specialization in Business/Managerial Economics. She became a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) through CPA Australia in 2001 and is now a Fellow of CPA Australia.

Mr King has extensive experience in finance and management consulting including having held executive positions in major and regional banks. He is currently the Chief Risk Officer at IMB Bank. Over many years, Mr King has worked with Boards business strategy, governance, risk management, business transformation, organisational resilience and regulatory change.
Mr King holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) from Monash University. He is Certified Practicing Accountant and a graduate of the AICD. He is currently a Director of the Armidale Diocese Investment Group and a member of the Stewardship Commission of the Sisters of St Joseph.
Professor Dawn Bennett is a higher education consultant engaged in governance work and academic development, employability development initiatives, reviews, and policy work. She is an honorary professor with Bond and Curtin universities, a senior advisor with Outside Opinion, Deputy Chair of Academic Board with SAE Institute, and an Academic Board member with the Higher Education Leadership Institute. Professor Bennett was previously Assistant Provost and Director of the Transformation CoLab with Bond University. An experienced senior leader, an educational reformist and a passionate educator, Professor Bennett’s expertise is the enhancement of student success and graduate employability through data-driven approaches to student retention and engagement, teaching, curricular reform and work integrated learning. As a researcher, she published over 300 academic articles and major reports and delivered AUD$6m in competitive research funding.

Her PhD is in the area of Artificial Intelligence from the University of South Australia and the Australian Defence Automation Department. She is a TEQSA expert in the area of IT, governance and quality assurance. She has significant skills in Private Higher Education and has held several senior academic leadership roles.

Associate Professor Ahmad Saedisomeolia currently holds a position at the Higher Education College of Health Sciences, Education Centre of Australia (Higher Education). Additionally, he serves on the Academic Promotion Committee, ECA Academic Board, and CHS Course Advisory Committee. Moreover, the School of Human Nutrition, McGill University, Canada, has appointed Dr. Saedisomeolia to “Research Scientist Affiliate” since 2024.
Previously, Ahmad worked as a Senior Researcher/Lecturer at the School of Human Nutrition, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, from 2021 to 2023. He earned his PhD in Nutrition from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2008, with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in “Nutrition in Public Health” and “Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics”, respectively.
Between 2008 and 2020, Dr. Saedisomeolia held various faculty positions at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, including Full-Professor and head of Department of Cellular and Molecular Nutrition, and Vice-Dean for Education. During this time, he also worked as a Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, and as a Research Affiliate with the University of Sydney from 2014 to 2015.
Dr. Ahmad Saedisomeolia has an impressive professional portfolio with 98 publications primarily featured in leading journals, maintaining an H-index of 29 and accumulating over 3500 hours of lecturing experience. He has also collaborated with industry organizations, serving as a Nutrition Expert for the European Union and Scientific Chair for International Conferences on “Functional Foods and Healthy Supplements,” hosted by Merck Company in Dubai in 2017 and 2018.
Professor Rouse has a career working in and contributing to knowledge in both Higher Education and Industry. His passion for Education, Global Health and empowering all people – together with expertise in leadership and management, information management and cultural diversity has led him to make significant contributions to many people in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region.Ian brings a wide range of leadership, management and people skills developed over 30 years of experience in senior management roles in large information, analysis and research organisations, tertiary institutions and government departments. Ian also offers a diverse range of knowledge and management experience in numerous NGO, community and sporting organisations in Australia and overseas.
Professor Rouse has significant knowledge and skills in Higher Education. He has held senior academic positions including acting Vice Chancellor of the Fiji National University, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Fiji National University, Executive Dean of the Division of Health, Engineering and Sciences at Victoria University, and Associate Dean of Research and Enterprise Development and Head of the School of Public Health at Curtin University. He currently holds the position of Associate Dean, Scholarship and Research in the Education Centre of Australia and adjunct Professorial roles with Monash and Federation Universities in Melbourne Australia. Professor Dileep Sharma is Head of Discipline, Oral Health at School of Health Sciences, College of Health, Medicine & Wellbeing at the University of Newcastle. Dileep brings a wealth of teaching experience within sixteen years as health professional and clinical educator across Asia, Africa and Australia. Dileep commenced his leadership role at the University of Newcastle after previously holding the role of Senior lecturer (2016-2022) and Associate Professor in Periodontics (2022) at the College of Medicine and Dentistry, James Cook University (JCU).

Ms Baxter is an AASW accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Victims Services Counsellor with over 20 years of experience in the field of therapeutic intervention. She has worked predominantly in Health services providing complex assessment, acute and ongoing support. Her career has also included working in rural, remote and international settings. Throughout her career, She has been passionately engaged in supporting individuals, with a particular focus on children, young people, and their families.
Professor Camilleri has been a social worker, researcher and academic and has been involved in teaching social work since 1986. He has worked as a social work practitioner in Tasmania, England and the Northern Territory working in adult mental health, rehabilitation, and child and adolescent mental health. His previous academic roles include inter alia Professor of Social Work and Head of Course at Central Queensland University; Professor of Social Work Australian Catholic University Canberra Campus; and Professor of Social Work Excelsia College Sydney. Professor Camilleri is currently a Social Work and Higher Education Consultant. He is also registered as a TEQSA expert in the field of Social Work, and chair course review panels on behalf of the Australia Association of Social Work.
Professor Pascal is currently Professor of Social Work and Head of the College of Social Work and Community Services at Central Queensland University. As Professor and Head of College of Social Work and Community Services, she is primarily responsible for the leadership of the BSW staff team and ensuring students experience a high quality learning environment.
She is an experienced academic, both an active researcher and lecturer in social work and public health and has worked in Australia and the UK universities for approximately 17 years. Her background includes teaching, research, publications, and postgraduate supervision.
Associate Professor Jennifer Smith is an Associate Professor in the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research. She has been a practitioner/academic social worker for 40 years. Her experience includes 17 years university teaching (at QUT, UQ, ACU and UNE) and 23 years as a practitioner in the government (Child Health and Child Safety) and community sectors (Lifeline and UnitingCare Community).

Previously, Ahmad worked as a Senior Researcher/Lecturer at the School of Human Nutrition, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, from 2021 to 2023. He earned his PhD in Nutrition from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2008, with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in “Nutrition in Public Health” and “Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics”, respectively.
Between 2008 and 2020, Dr. Saedisomeolia held various faculty positions at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, including Full-Professor and head of Department of Cellular and Molecular Nutrition, and Vice-Dean for Education. During this time, he also worked as a Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, and as a Research Affiliate with the University of Sydney from 2014 to 2015.
Dr. Ahmad Saedisomeolia has an impressive professional portfolio with 98 publications primarily featured in leading journals, maintaining an H-index of 29 and accumulating over 3500 hours of lecturing experience. He has also collaborated with industry organizations, serving as a Nutrition Expert for the European Union and Scientific Chair for International Conferences on “Functional Foods and Healthy Supplements,” hosted by Merck Company in Dubai in 2017 and 2018.

Professor Day graduated as a Registered Nurse and Midwife. He obtained a post registration Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1991. Following a clinical career that included midwifery, operating theatre, acute surgical and aged care, he moved into acute hospital management and worked in both Queensland and New South Wales. He obtained his Master of Health Management degree from the University of New England in 1999.
From 2005 – 2008, Professor Day was responsible for leading the development of innovative health leadership programs for both middle managers and executives for Queensland Health. Professor Day has had diverse operational roles both in Australia and internationally. He has worked as a Chief Executive Officer, Director of Clinical Services, Director of Nursing, Major Projects Manager, Director of Workforce Development in the South Australian Department of Health, Director of Leadership and Development in the South Australian Department for Education and Child Development, Director of Clinical Education, Training and Research, and Chief Quality and Safety Officer.
From an academic perspective, he has been Discipline Lead for Health Services Management at Griffith University, Deputy Head of School – Academic and International in the Griffith University School of Nursing and Midwifery, Professor of Health Services Management in the Griffith University School of Medicine and Visiting Professor in the College of Health Management and Economics at Gulf Medical University.
Internationally, Professor Day has taught in Singapore, Hong Kong and in the UAE. He has conducted health consultancies in Australia, China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
Professor Day obtained his Doctor of Health Services Management Degree from the University of New England in 2005. His research focused on the morale of Registered Nurses in Queensland. He has a track record of over 60 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. He is currently updating the 2nd edition of his co-authored text “Leading and Managing Health Services- An Australasian Perspective. Professor Day has co-authored the text “Healthcare in the Arabian Gulf and Greater Middle East – A Guide for Healthcare Professionals” which is due out in late 2023.
Away from work, Professor Day loves traveling with his wife, working on his 54-year old wooden boat and playing guitar.
